Activate Night Mode for Excel
Here is the easy method to enable dark mode in Excel & other MS Office applications.
- Click ‘File’ in Menu.
- Select ‘Account’.
- Choose one of this option under ‘Office Theme’
- ‘Black’ – available only for Office 365 subscribers
- ‘Dark Gray’ – Office 2016
- Click Ok
Notice that the menu bars have changed their background color to gray or black with white text. In addition to menu, the overall theme within Excel will be changed now.
Pure Black mode Office theme is only available to users who has active Office 365 subscribers.
Note: Though you change this dark mode option is enabled only in Excel, it is applied to all other Ms Office applications.
Alternate Method to Set Night Mode Theme
Follow these steps to activate Dark (night) mode in all MS Office Applications.
- Click ‘File’ Menu.
- Choose ‘Options’ – ‘General’.
- Get to ‘Personalize you copy of Microsoft Office’
- Select “Black’ or “Dark Gray’
- Click Ok
This option is very same as the one explained in previous section. But just that Microsoft has placed it in additional section.
In either ways, the MS Office version should be 2016 or above to make use of this option.
It is debatable whether this Night mode or Dark mode reduces the harm for eyes from bright screen light. But it is true that this option is useful for users who use computers in dim light or at night time.
This way, the power consumption is also reduced.
